Clicking on the WhatsApp button will start a conversation in WhatsApp

WhatsApp recently started opening up their API. One of the first things they are giving access to is the ability to create links that will open WhatsApp and send a predefined message to a provided telephone number.

What this means is that a user can create a link and share it with customers; when a customer clicks on this link, it will start a WhatsApp message between the user and customer.

This could be a great tool for people who conduct most of their business communication over WhatsApp. At htmlsig we’ve received a lot of requests to add WhatsApp as one of the social icons. Now that this feature has been released by WhatsApp, we have decided to add a “message me” button to htmlsig.

When creating your signature, under the Apps and buttons tab you can enter a mobile number, and message to get a WhatsApp “message me” button added to your email signature.

If you are a new htmlsig user, you can sign up to create your email signature and add a WhatsApp message me button. Current users edit your signature to add the button.
